Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions 🥩🫑
A classic Chinese-style stir-fry made with tender beef, crisp bell peppers, and onions coated in a rich savory sauce. It’s quick to make and perfect for serving with steamed rice.
Ingredients
500 g beef steak, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 green bell pepper, sliced
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1 large onion, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
1/2 cup beef broth
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 teaspoon sugar
Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
In a bowl, mix the sliced beef with soy sauce and cornstarch. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes.
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Cook the beef quickly until browned, then remove and set aside.
Add the remaining oil to the pan and sauté the garlic and ginger for about 30 seconds.
Add the sliced bell peppers and onion and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp.
Return the beef to the pan and pour in the beef broth, oyster sauce, and sugar.
Stir everything together and cook for another 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
Season with salt and pepper if needed.
Serve hot with steamed rice and enjoy this delicious, restaurant-style pepper steak.
