What Were Those Strange Piles in My Daughter’s Room?

Recently, I noticed two small piles of a brown, grainy substance on the floor of my daughter’s room. At first, I had no idea what they were — they looked a little like coffee grounds or dirt, and there was no smell or movement to give me a clue.

Curious and a bit concerned, I posted a photo online. The responses were endless: some people guessed it might be insect droppings, mouse feces, termite remains, bat guano, or even fly larvae. Others suggested crushed granola or decorative potpourri. Even pest control experts were puzzled and couldn’t identify the substance immediately.

Finally, a helpful comment pointed out that it looked like stuffing from a lavender-scented stuffed animal. I checked, and sure enough — a beloved stuffed bear had leaked its herbal filling, creating the mysterious little piles.

In the end, the mystery was harmless. What seemed strange and alarming at first turned out to be nothing more than toy stuffing spilling onto the floor. This little incident reminded me that sometimes, the simplest explanation is the right one — especially in a child’s room!
