Cheesy Mashed Potato Nests Stuffed with Savory Ground Meat
Ingredients
For the Mashed Potato Nests
4 large potatoes, peeled and boiled
2 tablespoons butter
1 egg yolk
Salt and black pepper to taste
2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill or parsley
¼ cup grated cheese (optional)
For the Filling
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 red bell pepper, diced
1 lb (450 g) ground beef or ground turkey
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
½ cup tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
For Topping
½ cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a muffin tin.
Mash the boiled potatoes with butter until smooth.
Add egg yolk, salt, pepper, herbs, and grated cheese. Mix well.
Spoon the mashed potatoes into the muffin tin and shape them into small nests with a hollow center.
Bake the potato nests for about 10–15 minutes to help them hold their shape.
In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté the onion and bell pepper until soft.
Add the ground meat and cook until browned.
Stir in garlic, paprika, salt, pepper, and tomato sauce. Simmer for a few minutes.
Fill each potato nest with the meat mixture.
Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
Bake again for 10–15 minutes until the cheese melts and turns golden.
