1½ lbs (about 700 g) smoked sausage, sliced into rounds

2½ lbs (about 1 kg) potatoes, peeled and cubed

1 large onion, thinly sliced

3 tablespoons olive oil

3 tablespoons melted butter

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon dried thyme or Italian seasoning

2 cloves garlic, minced (or ½ teaspoon garlic powder)

½ cup chicken broth

¼ cup heavy cream or milk (optional, for a richer texture)

¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.

Prepare the mixture:

In a large bowl, combine potatoes and sliced onions.

Add olive oil, melted butter, salt, pepper, paprika, thyme, and garlic.

Toss well until everything is evenly coated.

Add the sausage:

Mix in the sliced smoked sausage and stir to combine.

Transfer to baking dish:

Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared dish.

Add liquid:

Pour the chicken broth (and cream if using) evenly over the casserole.

Bake covered:

Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes
