Grandma’s Slow-Simmered Comfort Stew

There’s nothing quite like a slow-cooked meal that fills your home with warmth and rich aromas. This classic comfort stew is inspired by traditional family cooking—simple ingredients, slow heat, and unforgettable flavor.

Ingredients:

500g beef chunks (or chicken if preferred)

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 onion, chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

3 carrots, sliced

2 potatoes, peeled and cubed

1 zucchini, chopped

2 cups beef or chicken broth

1 cup tomato sauce

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

1 bay leaf

Instructions:

Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.

Add the meat and cook until browned on all sides.

Add onion and garlic, and sauté until soft and fragrant.

Stir in carrots, potatoes, and zucchini.

Pour in the broth and tomato sauce, then mix well.

Add salt, pepper, paprika, thyme, and bay leaf.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low.

Cover and let it simmer gently for 1.5 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.

Remove the bay leaf before serving.

Serving Tip:

Serve hot with fresh bread. The longer it simmers, the richer the flavor becomes—just like grandma used to make.
