I found this under my mattress – at first I thought they were insect eggs, but the reality really surprised me.

“Those are Kalonji – black cumin seeds. Someone must have deliberately placed them there.”

I blinked in disbelief. Seeds? Under the bed?

When I searched for it online, I was speechless. Black cumin has supposedly been used for centuries as an amulet to ward off illness and negative energies – often hidden under mattresses, under doorsteps, or even sewn into pillows to attract peace and protection.

For a moment I was horrified. Who would do something like that without telling me?

Then I remembered that my grandmother had visited me a few weeks earlier. She had always been a woman who believed in silent blessings and old customs.

That night I called her.

“Grandma… did you put something under my mattress?”

She laughed softly.

“Oh, did you find it? Yes, it’s black cumin. May it protect you. You’ve been so restless lately, and I thought a little protection might help.”

In the afternoon I decided to turn the mattress and wash the bedding. Everything seemed normal until I noticed a cluster of small, black granules in one corner of the bed.

They were matte, yet slightly shiny, like tiny pieces of coal.

I felt nauseous. My first thought: insect eggs. Maybe cockroaches? Beetles? Just the thought of it made my skin freeze.

I took a sheet of paper and carefully selected a few of them to examine more closely.

They were hard, dry, and clearly lifeless. But where did they come from?
Curious (and a little horrified), I took a photo and sent it to a friend who is interested in herbal medicine and ancient healing traditions.
